Baking with Chocolate and Baby

My in-laws visited with us this weekend. We hadn’t seen them since the middle of June and were looking forward to catching up. My father-in-law’s birthday was last month … and so I made a cake with the two best ingredients (chocolate and baby)

Cake2Look, look, she helped!

Thanks! The cake is the chocolate cake from smitten kitchen with the raspberry filling. The helper, as it turns out, does NOT like chocolate. Can you believe this? How is this possible? Oh, the helper also doesn’t like ice cream. Sigh.

Wow!!! No, I can’t believe this!!! What does she like, carrots? So, I guess there is a modelling career ahead of her 🙂

Oh I doubt that… she LOVES raisins, dried cherries, bread, pasta and bananas. I don’t think those are on the list of any prescribed model-friendly foods. What are your kids’ favorite foods?

Oh the older one hardly eats anything at all. He either loves very bad food (like white pasta and take-out, even though it doesn’t happen much with us, he’s still hooked on it) or really good food. If we teach him to stop eating white pasta, I suspect he’ll become a raw-eater. He can live days on apples and peppers. Meat is a constant fight. I don’t mind him becoming a vegetarian or even vegan, but the trouble is that he doesn’t eat other proteins, like beans, chickpeas etc. He begins to like hummus, so if we’ll manage to teach him to love other proteins, I will stop making him eat meat.
The little one would eat anything, and A LOT. She LOVES food (so far)!
